Photomanipulation of [link]. For this competition: [link]
I only found out about the competition today and it closes tomorrow(!), so due to time constraints I decided to do a photo manip instead of a digital painting (which takes about 3 days). This was a lot more work than expected, but I had tons of fun.
About this piece (required for comp.): The theme of the competition is that the piece should represent the artist in some way - hence the tear streaks in this piece. The broken wings are open for interpretation, but in my case I suppose that it means that I've been grounded after the death of my parents, I doubt I'll ever fly again. The crow: symbol of death. The pose: Somehow I'm still here, somehow I'm still standing. I left the expression as is (didn't make her look sad), because I act strong, but inside I'm crying. Snow: just cos I love it, so white 'n fluffy!
I was browsing for some storytelling inspiration and this (thankfully) came by. Its stunning, and fits so perfectly the image I was searching for. Congrats on the competition win, too, but mainly, thanks for this art.
